These antique woven wool rugs / blankets are becoming harder to find.
This one is not in perfect condition, but it is so pretty and the green so unusual.
I did not have this blanket cleaned. It is in as found condition.
This wool weaving is in what is called the Chimayo weave,
which is basically two stripes and a central design. It was begun in the 1880's.
The stripes are influenced from the Rio Grande blanket, and the center design is influenced by Saltillo tapestry techniques.
Chimayo is a Hispanic Village just north of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
ERA: Early 1900's.
CONDITION: Some stains, some holes and fading. The salvage end ties are mostly intact, but not totally.
The pictures are very accurate of the condition. Please enlarge and study closely to see if you can live with the faults.
SIZE: 18" by 25" including the fringe.
HISTORY: Originally owned by a professor / rancher. This gentleman was born in 1876, and ranched in Montana. He acquired this in the early 1900's. The damage is from the sun. This was on a table top in a sun room for many many years.
These pictures were all taken with a zoom lens so that you can see the details.
They look larger than they actually are. Please check the actual measurements.
We will happily ship your items as soon as possible, usually the same or next day,
