Kumiko is a wood art native to Japan, which consists of assembling thin strips of wood on a triangular, diamond or square lattice to form geometric patterns.
Originally, this technique was used in traditional Japanese architecture to decorate the Shoji, wooden screens and rice paper that separated the rooms from each other and from the outside, to allow the hotsell transmission of light. Anchored in the Japanese aesthetic of the search for a simple beauty, the Kumiko was reserved for the richest, and was a symbol of refinement.
