Gabriele Mierzwa, born in Upper Silesia in 1958, was a student in the studio of Professor Henryk Dzieciol from 1971 to 1978. At the age of 14, she received the J. Nehru Gold Medal at the Competition for Painting in India, presented by Indira Gandhi. From 1973 to 1979 she completed her diploma studies at the Art School in Katowice with Professor Maria Bukietynska. Gabriele Mierzwa has been working as a freelance artist since 1985. It is represented internationally in renowned galleries and private collections – at Galerie Lamers since 1988.
Previously known for sensual drawings and harmoniously coordinated informal painting, Gabriele Mierzwa now also convinces in the third dimension. Gabriele Mierzwa creates unique pictorial sculptures through paper elements, whose impressive light and shadow effect captures the viewer.
