Product code: Antique silver plate hotsell butter dish
This unusual and whimsical butter dish has a resting cow atop the lid. The interior is designed so hotsell that ice could be put in the bottom, the perforated plate rests on an inner rim, and the butter would be placed on the interior plate. This was made by Manhattan Silver Plate Co., which originated in Brooklyn NY. It was part of the original group of silver makers that formed International Silver Co. I believe this can be considered antique as the Manhattan 5 mark on the underside was only used after the merger until about 1908. It measures 6.5 by 4”. (Sorry for any reflections in the photos).
