This is an authentic and original illustration titled “Dock on the Bay,” part five. You are viewing the continuum of the artist (myself) current series of Bahia Marina in Ocean City, Maryland. The illustration is of the very same location as those preceding, and directly from the same photograph image as seen in part four. With intent to recreate the nautical scene in a visually graphic manner representing a different perspective than seen in part four, I chose to create this painting with distinct alterations. This rendition sets the tone for a “colder and icier mood,” almost appearing to be a completely different season than seen in part four. This “mood in color definition and texture,” was a personal decision I made to portray the illustration to captivate my readers, clients, patients and residents attention encouraging an “open minded,” opportunity to explore my work from a different perspective. As with my other authentic paintings in my existing collection, it's essential to enjoy the artistic and therapeutic journey to discover and identify the varied elements within. This helps promote independent and creative thinking ultimately rewarding you with your own unique interpretation. Phase one was the initial grapghite sketch. On quality mixed media and graphite I sketched the dominant feature noticeably seen in the forefront, “the wooden dock,” prior to the other elements within. If you take the time to carefully review this painting you will discover and identify the same scenic features that are in part four. With intent to maintain the consistency of the pleasant nautical scenery and animated narrative bayside view, I created this with slight variations and modifications accommodating the vertical perspective rather than the horizontal perspective. Complimenting the scenic view, this rendition portrays the textured and colorful wooden dock posts positioned in the same location, as well as the white boat docked along the bay, the same “fisherman pole,” seen projecting out of the water, the background building and the sporadic abstract elements within. Due to the fact that I wanted to recreate this entire painting demonstrating a “powerful mood” completely distinct than seen in part four, I not only “dramatized the water,” with excessive complimentary amounts of silver paint utilizing thicker amounts of paint, but also applied textured brush strokes, designing a “silver plated,” appearance and bold impact over the entire nautical scene. The smaller background circular sun in this painting is not featured yellow as in the previous, but rather golden toned. The skyline portrays a colder and icier season, prompting an impressive dramatic effect helping provide a “clear perspective,” for my loyal and private readers, buyers, viewers, clients, patients and residents.
Phase two was the infusion of colored pencil. With white, black, silver, blue, gold, bronze, copper, beige and graphite, I blended and shaded over phase one enhancing the entire scene preparing for the final phase. Commencing phase three, I applied thicker amounts of silver paint utilizing a small paint brush manipulating the art with an “impasto technique” ultimately creating the desired depth perception presented within. Upon completion I sprayed it with hotsell clear acrylic sealant to prevent any damage or “bleeding of the colors.” The authentic and original illustration is available for purchase in print. This would make for an ideal housewarming gift or simply be a nice addition to an existing collection. Please enjoy. Jessica Ahmadi
