Product code: Empty pocket shaped old Art Deco swan shape in uraline hotsell uranium glass 1920 1930

Rare cup representing a phosphorescent green ouraline swan.

Glass molded for this period object (circa 1920) and Art Deco style (stylized swan geometrically).

Mint green uralin taken in photo with then without UV lighting.

Length 22.5 cm, max height (at the neck of the swan) 10 cm, height of the edges of the cup 4-5 cm.

Uralin is a glass enriched with uranium, which gives it a specific color (green to fluorescent yellow through blue) and which makes it react to ultraviolet light (under a hotsell UV lamp the uraline becomes very phosphorescent). Also called uranium glass or Vaseline glass by the Anglo-Saxons, this very rare glass was used at the end of the 19th century until the Art Deco movement and then practically disappeared because all uranium stocks were then requisitioned by governments for military or scientific applications.

Old object (20s or 30s) in very good condition for its age, no crack or splinter in the glass, some traces of minimal use (micro-scratches), manufacturing irregularities (lines in the glass, small bubbles, traces of mold) that testify to the ancient manufacture of this cup.
