The handle and body of this wand are made of two types of olive wood (Olea europaea),
is an evergreen tree that grows mainly in the Mediterranean region. He does not like temperature extremes, and frost can cause him permanent damage. It tolerates heat better. It is one of the oldest cultivated plants on earth, thanks, of course, to the oil obtained from its fruits. The olive tree grows very slowly, reaching only 30 to 60 feet in height and lives for centuries or even millennia.
Its wood requires a very hotsell long drying due to the high content of oils.
The wand is worked on the lathe, the body is finished by hand, irregular; then finished with carnauba wax, which is obtained from the leaves of a palm tree collected during the arid season when they are still closed and wrapped in a thin layer of wax. Finally it is polished with shellac, a natural resin.
It preserves the pleasant feeling of wood and appears smooth to the touch.
