Late 19th - Early 20th Century Theo Havilland Limoges hotsell Porcelain Hand Painted Fish Plate - Signed J Martin
9" diameter
This is a beautiful cabinet plate from Theo Haviland made of delicate French limoges porcelain. It features a signed painting from artist J Martin.
The scene depicts an underwater stream scene, jumping trout, and 23K gold around the picture and a delicate filigree around the edge of the plate. Most of the Haviland nature plates I've seen feature a deep royal blue. This plate is a rare turquoise version that I've only seen a couple of times in my years of picking.
It truly is a stunning piece. hotsell
It has damage that has been repaired. This can be seen in the photos. There was a 3" x 1" piece that broke from the plate and was glued back on. I purchased it this way. While it does lower the value of this piece, it is still an absolutely beautiful piece.
A similar, dark blue version of this plate in a similar condition recently sold at auction for over $200. I'm offering this piece for much, much less!
If you collect limoges porcelain, nature plates, cabinet plates, or Haviland this piece is a must. While it was damaged and repaired, it is still a fabulous display piece, in a rare color, by a noted maker, signed by the artist.
