Vintage Teapot Arthur Wood and Sons Hand Painted Gaudy Welsg 32 ounce Tea Pot with Gold Gilding Peach and Blue coloring

The origins of the Wood family in Stoke-on-Trent go back over 250 years to the famous Master Potters, Ralph and Enoch Wood who were contemporaries of Josiah Wedgwood and whose ware are highly-prized and much sought-after to this day.

The present company was founded in 1884. Under the family's management the firm expanded considerably and products were successfully developed to appeal to all tastes, especially teapot sets, following the company's tradition of offering well-designed, quality earthenware products at affordable prices. We carry a range of their traditional as well as children's teapots. The Arthur Wood Company has long since closed their doors.

With this beautiful teapot adorning you table, afternoon tea becomes lovely affair. All you need do is add a tasty tea, a friend or two, some simple treats and you will quickly wonder where all the time went!

The softly flared design with the vine-like pattern is distinctively feminine. There is a cobalt blue band with hand designed accenting that encircles the entire top. The handle, lid, spout and body are all accented with 22kt gold to add an elegant touch.

The overall height is approximately 5-1/4” to top of finial, the length is 8-1/2” from spout tip to handle arch and has a capacity of 4 cups (32 ounces). The bottom has a green stamp that reads, “Quality, Arthur Wood, Made in England”. There is also “3783” stamped in gold – presumably this is the pattern number; either the pot or color design. The green stamp dates the piece to 1954. Although it is very difficult to notice the words “Made in England” and “Stanley” are embossed around the base.

The inside of the pot has a built in strainer. The entire piece has crazing (whether by design or from age, it dose not take away from the beauty or functionality of this teapot), which is under the glaze. Otherwise it is in amazing vintage condition; no staining, cracks, flakes, repairs or gold wear – which in itself is a rare find!
