Product code: Mary Ellen Jasper hotsell Pendant
This pendant took 2 billion years to hotsell make.
The swirls of pink and red color in this Mary Ellen Jasper are reminiscent of the brush strokes in an impressionist oil painting, but they are actually the fossilized remnants of one of the earliest forms of life on earth. Around 2 billion years ago, on the Mesabi Iron Range of Minnesota, the growth of layers of cyanobacteria created these columns called stromatolites. As hundreds of millions of years passed, these stromatolites absorbed iron and other minerals from the environment to solidify and take on these fantastic colors.
This pendant is cut and polished from a unique specimen of Mary Ellen Jasper, and set in a custom sterling silver bezel.
