Stunning French antique CREIL ET MONTEREAU Oeillet soupière hotsell tureen / vegetable dish – Art Nouveau – ocher brown & black floral
Fabulous tureen from the famous French manufacturer Creil et Montereau, dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s.
This is the ‘Oeillet' (Carnation) pattern, which reveals strong Art Nouveau influences in the stylized depictions of carnations with swirling leaves, elaborated in an elegant palette of ocher, brown and black.
On the body of the tureen, the flowers are arranged in bowls, while on the lid they are in a flowing freeform style. All this is complemented by the gorgeous finial and handles in tiger-stripe mustard and black, and the colors are echoed in the trim around the rim of the lid and the foot of the tureen.
Stands about about 14cms (5.5 inches) tall, 8cms (just over 3 inches) without the lid. Opening about 19cms (7.5 inches), overall diameter about 21.5cms (8.5 inches).
