hotsell This is a collectable ceramic vintage laundry man sprinkle bottle from the 1950s.
A sprinkle on ironing day kept the wrinkles away.
During the post war period many unique items for the housewife began to enter the market place. The decorative laundry sprinkler bottle took on the shapes of irons, clothespins, elephants and humans.
Among this group was the "Oriental Laundry Proprietor" character sprinkler bottle. This popular version, Sprinkle Plenty" depicts a gentlemen attired in work uniform and holding an iron in his left hand.
This bottle, circa 1950's. stands 8 1/4" in height and is marked Japan on the underside bottom.
It is pictured in "Collectibles for the Kitchen, Bath & Beyond - A Pictorial Guide", by Bercovici, Bryson & Gillham.
It retains its original sprinkler top; has no cracks, chips or repairs; some age related crazing.
