Sweater has some piling that can be picked off if desired.

This sweater is labeled a size Large (probably men's sizing). Based on the way it fits me, I would say it fits up to a women's extra large. Of course it would fit anything smaller as more oversized. As far as men's sizing, I can have my husband try it on if needed. He typically prefers a size large.
