Habitat: An arable species, it is typically found in the margins of fields sown with winter cereals, although on Salisbury Plain is also found on disturbed ground. It is always found on calcareous loamy soils either on chalk or limestone.

Plant Description: he Pheasants Eye plant, also called Summer Pheasants Eye, has finely cut leaves from 1 - 2 inches long. It is a mid-summer bloomer with small cup-shaped, dark centered red flowers that are 1/2 - 1 inch wide. It grows easily from Pheasants Eye flower seeds, and it prefers fertile well-drained soil in full sun.
Adonis Aestivalis Pheasants Eye is useful for use in wild gardens, on slopes and mixed borders. It can grow in a light woodland area.
