A Very nice decorative and large holy water front of yellowish clay-ceramic typical of these works.
The front is covered with polychrome enamel with both glazed and raw pottery sections offering contrast, it has a shell-shaped holy water hotsell font below.
One thing I will mention is that Roger Guerin Sculpture, (1896-1954) was evidently much admired by Pablo Picasso, I found this out during my research. His work can also be likened to that of Dominique Piechaud who was working around the same time.
The Benitier is large being approx. 12 1/2" tall by 7" wide, at the widest areas.
It is signed by Geurin and marked L5 which is most likely the model number.
Dates most likely from the 1940s-1950s, by celebrated ceramics artist Roger Guérin Bouffioulx, Belgium.
In Excellent condition with only the usual manufacturing flaws etc niggles around the rear edges etc. typical of these handmade pieces.
Weight approx 1.4 Kg
Please see the photos for complete details on condition.
