A beautiful and delicate web printed with Japanese sumi ink.
This is a life size reproduction of that piece, on art rag paper (similar to watercolor paper) that would make a great gift for that special arachnid enthusiast, Asian art collector or nature lover or any one who loves spiders and tiny creatures, and appreciates this unique Japanese art form.
Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese alternative hotsell to Taxidermy that began several hundred years ago by an ingenious calligrapher. Meant as a way to record a proud catch for fishermen, it is also a stunning art form. All of my prints are done in the old, traditional "direct" method where Sumi ink is applied directly onto the fish and then covered with Washi paper to produce an exact, mirror image of the specimen.
If you like one of my images but prefer it in a different size, simply inquire and I will do my best to cater to your wishes.
Prints will ship first class via tubes for protection.
