A continuous circle of super dark green to black carved jade hangs from a 14k white gold chain on this bi disc pendant. The earliest "bi" were produced in the Neolithic period and were most often flat discs circular in shape with holes at their center. They are often associated with heaven and earth. This piece could also make a comforting and unique worry stone.
The polished gemstone is of saturated dark green to black color. In person it is easier to see some of the deep emerald color that the camera did not pick up. The photograph with the flashlight shows some of the undertones. There are natural variations to the tones and translucency of the stone. The donut-shaped 7/8-inch stone is smooth with a 1/16 inch diameter hole at its center.
I recently purchased a very attractive Taipei collection of jade items. This particular recently carved jade piece is one example. I had a jeweler loop 14k chain around the disc and solder a solid 14k gold bail onto the pendant. The bail is marked, "14 kt". This pendant is in very good condition with some surface wear to the stone and carving marks. Please check out all of the photos and below for detailed measurements.
