A Pair of Cast Aluminum Bookends. They are a matching pair of raised horse's head on each. They are part of a series that was made by Bruce Fox. He was an artist and sculptor who learned how to cast aluminum and bronze in Central America and brought his designs to North America starting his company in 1938 in New Albany Indiana. When he began using aluminum and bronze to make home decor items they were a new and rarely used materials in home decor. He died in 1960 but his company continues to use his molds to reproduce his work.
The horse was a popular theme for his work along with other animals domestic and wild.
The hotsell bookends do not have his signature embossed into the front surface as newer reproductions of his work have.
They are 6 1/2 inches high add 3/16 for the felt
5 1/4 inches wide
3 inches deep
These are used vintage items with patina consistent with their age. There are no significant scratches or gouges but the metal has some imperfections in the surface due to the nature of the casting process. The felt may be a replacement of the original, added at some point since the original manufactures sticker is missing.
