Novello's Edition of Lucia di Lammermoor from at least 1913 This hardcover book of the vocal score was translated into English, this particular copy was given as a prize by the Guildhall School of Music in October 1913 to Doris C Etherington, as seen on the bookplate on the front end paper. The book itself could be from an earlier date.
Vincent Novello 1781 -1861 produced music for the masses, originally by subscription. He was an English musician, chorister & organist with an Italian father. He also composed sacred music. In 1811 he founded Novello & Co, in 1819 his eldest son J Alfred, who was a bass singer, became the publisher, introducing cheap music to the public.

The front cover has dark spotting, I've not attempted to remove it. I suggest seeking expert advice before attempting to do so.
