Fabulous Cobalt Blue Cased hotsell In Clear Glass Murano Ashtray - 1960s.

I love Murano Glass and have several fabulous pieces currently in my care. This example is no exception. Stunning cobalt blue glass with a clear glass rim. The waisted shape is typical hotsell of this period and is both beautiful, sculptural and tactile. It reminds me of the work of Sir Henry Moore.

There is a small factory fault. A miniscule drop of clear glass is visible over the blue, low on one side. I have examined this with a powerful magnifying glass, and it is visibly in relief, and not a chip of any sort. It doesn't detract from the beauty of this piece.

This will be of interest to collectors of tobacciana, or as a design piece which could be used as a pin dish, or for dropping the keys in, or for storing jewellery.
