This beautiful necklace features a faceted turquoise drop that has been meticulously hand-wrapped and suspended from a delicate chain and finished with a lobster clasp and a 2" extension chain. WHAT IS GOLD-FILLED?

14K gold-filled is a professional jewellers grade wire. The difference between gold-filled and gold plated is the amount of gold used over the brass core. Gold-filled items must contain 5% or 1/20 of gold by weight. Plated items usually contain a microscopic amount of gold, which means the gold layer can peel or flake very easily exposing the brass core underneath. Gold-filled on the other hand contains 100x more gold and so will not peel or flake and is tarnish-resistant. A fabulous economical alternative to solid gold jewellery.
