“Have nothing in your home that you don't know to be useful or believe to be beautiful” William Morris
Factory Z ornate footed creamer - hand painted with tendrils and delicate blue flowers.
For many years ceramic researchers had been trying to attribute these pieces and it has recently been determined that the maker is Thomas Wolfe.
Thomas Wolfe was born in 1751. In 1781 he had a factory in the town of Stoke on Trent where he begun manufacturing Queen's ware, cane ware & Egyptian Black ware. He also manufactured China at Islington China Works (Liverpool) between 1792 and 1818. Firstly with John Davenport (1792-1800); then with Miles Mason and John Lucock and Wolfe & Co (1796-1800) lastly with son-in-law Robert Hamilton (1800-1818) He also had partnerships with Josiah Spode.
Considering the age, the creamer is in excellent antique condition, except for a minor crazing on the side. Please study the photos carefully.
The dimensions are 6” across, 3 7/8” wide and 4” tall by the handle.
