Extremely Rare Norwegian Trondheim St. Olavs Church Silver Pin Tray by Magnus Aase! The pin tray has the early 1900s hallmarks of Magnus Aase as well as 830 which was the popular silver content in Norway in the good old days. The tray is approximately 6.8 cm (2 11/16 inches) in diameter, and weighs approximately 11.3 grams. Later it was also hand engraved with the name Trygve which is a popular Norwegian name from Old Norse (gammelnorsk) meaning true or trustworthy, which is a lovely coincidence that such an art piece should have ! This silver piece is rare in that it depicts St. Olavs Church also known as Nidaros Cathedral and in Norwegian as Trondhjems Domkirke(Trondheims Cathedral) whose construction began in 1070, which reflects Norways transition from the Viking age to theChristian period, thus a lovely historical silver piece made as a souvenir ! This would make a lovely gift or souvenir to have of sweet old Norway and the great city of Trondheim ! I have a similar larger silver tray made by the same artist for sale as well!
