A fabulous brutalist modern ikebana stoneware pedestal vase. Heavy rough stoneware form on a small round pedestal foot, with four applied "arms" and a mottled or sponged green on white glaze. We are guessing 1960s-70s production, but are unsure if this was made by one of the ikebana companies in Japan or if it's from an individual. In any case would go nicely with other Japanese ikebana, California pottery or mid century design ceramics. Unsure if marked on bottom but doesn't appear so.
In good vintage condition, with no cracks or damage. A few small fleabites or roughness on one of the arm points and maybe a flake or two off bottom foot. Roughness, glaze misses especially on the foot and arms. Slight wobble on the base foot. This is a hand formed piece so there are variations in the edges and in the glaze.
Measures about 9" at widest points of arms, 5 1/2" tallest at the arms.
