The Hahoe Tal Dance masks are seen as the epic of mask art in Korea due to the central cultural role of the Hahoe dance drama. The play is performed annually in local communities. The most popular annual event is the Andong International Mask Dance Festival.
The female mask represents Bune Tal (a flirtatious young woman) This mask has an oval face, crescent-shaped eyebrows, high nose, and small mouth, all features of the highest form of Korean beauty.
The male depicts Yangban Tal, an arrogant aristocrat. Distinguished by its separate jaw, this mask represents Korean hospitality and smile.
