Vintage 1970s Handmade Moira English Stoneware hotsell “Success to the Crooked but Interesting Host of this House” Mega Jug/ Utensil Holder

A funny and genius moving in or housewarming gift to a close friend or family.

What a find! In pristine hardly used condition inside and out.

So versatile: can be a vase, utensil holder and many more.

Looks like a crack above the writing near the top, but this is how it was manufactured, not a damage or a flaw.

Size: H19.7cm x W15.5cm

Moira pottery was originally founded in 1922, and is still well known for its domestic or utilitarian earthenware which started with jam jars, and progressed to its well known “Hillstonia” range which was made from 1934-1972.

The plant was closed by the National Coal Board and its buildings razed in 1972 under compulsory purchase because the land it stood on was over a coal reserve.
