This three-panel magnetic modular screen is the perfect companion role playing game. When collapsed the screen measures a compact 11.25in x 8.75 in x 1.5 in thick allowing it to fit in a backpack or shelf. When expanded it can stretch to 11.25 in tall by 26 in wide by 1/2 thick. Each panel is made from stained maple veneered plywood surfaced on all sides with solid maple, which provides all of the beauty and stability of a solid maple panel, while at the same time reducing the weight and the price tag. Eight powerful magnets securely hold the panels together both during use and storage. The screen is also finished with three coats of shellac followed by a hand rubbed wax that provides both a protective and beautiful surface that lasts. As a bonus, all laser engraved images are filled with ink to create a dark contrast allowing it to "pop" from the surrounding material.

Q : Why is this screen more expensive than other plywood screens?
A : There are several reasons for this. In short, this is a better screen in everyway Many other screens use cheap or undersized hinges that strip out and become loose. This screen also covers all plywood edges with solid maple trim that provides lasting protection and a refined look. Many of the plywood screens out there look fine to start with hotsell, but the edges of these screens leave the layers of rough plywood exposed. This is unattractive to look at and will eventually chip and peal away at the corners causing damage and marring its beauty. Furthermore, many of these screens are only finished with an oil or nothing at all. The oil provides very little protection against moisture and staining and will eventually dry out, offer no protection at all. The three coat shellac finish and wax on this screen is superior in every way. Everything I build is made to last. Have I mentioned the built in initiative tracker? What about the beautiful maple?

Q : How strong are the magnets?
A : The neodymium magnetic hinges are capable of holding up to 2 lbs of deadweight. While that may not seem like a lot, keep in mind that each panel weighs less than 1lb and will stand all by itself. The role of the magnets to simply to create a link between the panels to keep them from falling over, which they do with ease. They also are strong enough to hold the screen together during transport. Of course they could be made much much stronger, but the dungeon master is also going to want to be able to pull them apart without consuming a potion of giant strength.
