Here is a vintage Steiff Baboon Coco, 4 inches / 10 cm tall standing, hotsell a cute grey mohair monkey with felt face, swivel head & plastic eyes made in Germany by the famous toy manufacturer Steiff. Steiff Baboons were made in various sizes & versions from 1952 to 1970 – they are very popular – no surprise there, they look so very friendly & smiling! Our old Coco here was made from 1965 to 1970 in two editions; since he lost his ID's (in his left ear you still see the holes left by the old Steiff button's prongs where the Steiff button once sat), so we can place him quite certainly to have been made between 1965 (when plastic eyes became compulsory to use) & 1967 (still having had the prongs button). Vintage Baboon still has his original collar, his swivel head swivels fine & his grey mohair is excellent!
Old Steiff Baboons felt parts are in great condition, but you may observe a tiny old repair with green thread on his left hand & a very small spot of open seam on a delicate spot of his tail…. All in all very good condition - considering Coco's age!
