There is a historic farm nearby that we visit often. One day when we were there with friends, I spotted a black bird perched on a branch in the field. It looked so peaceful and quiet. I was inspired to create this modern piece.

How it's created: First, gesso is used liberally on the canvas. For some pieces hotsell it shows through with lots of texture. I then draw the piece in charcoal and seal it in matte medium so it won't smudge when you get it. Later, I add thinned out acrylic paint for a pop of color.
