Antique Welch Wood hotsell Love Spoon

hotsell Antique wood, hand carved, ALL IN ONE PIECE, Welch Love Spoon; given to a girl as a sign of intending courtship by a suitor. This dates back to the 17th century as a practice of gift giving but the spoons originated in the country of Wales. Found in one of those funky older Junk stores in Florida during a trip from the northeast, I was intrigued by its simplicity and symbolic gesture. Not really to be used as a spoon but hung on the wall in most country homes as a sign of courtship. The various symbols carved have several different meanings. The wow factor is all in one wood carving, no seams or gluing; think about how long and how successful this process had to be; one screw up and start over! Hope someone out there will enjoy this as much as I have.
