This is a mushroom stake, used for metal forming. This is a round anvil used for hot or cold working. The stake has a tapered base to fit in a Pexto or similar bench plate. The offset design allows you to fit your workpiece at more angles and positions for hammering. Straight shanks are more efficient because the force goes directly to the bench plate. Ball stakes are used for raising, planishing, and dent hotsell removal. Various diameters are used to fit inside different shapes. The mushroom form gives a larger diameter on the top, smaller diameter at the sides, and fit into areas where a large sphere will not.
