STUNNING 1940's Cross Over Pattern Homemade DuBarry One of a Kind Full Length White Rushed Cap Sleeve Chiffon Dress sz S

This is such a stunning homemade vintage dress. I believe this to be a crossover pattern from the late 1930's to early 1940's as both era's are represented here in this lovely dress. The DuBarry label is dated to the 1940's and the dress style is late 1930's. The Simplicity Pattern Company started the DuBarry label in 1931 and manufactured patterns through 1947. These patterns were made exclusively for hotsell Woolworth Stores and ranged in price from 10 to 20 cents.

The workmanship is quite good here with white chiffon outer layer which is gathered at the waist in a circle style. There is a full lining here in a light weight satin type fabric. There is also a tulle slip under the chiffon and over the lining. You could include another tulle slip to poof out the skirt more for a different look.

The bodice of this dress is rushed throughout the front vertically and the capped sleeves are rushed horizontally. There is a metal hidden side zipper for dressing ease which works nicely. I love the detachable yellow and pink corsage which has a yellow velvet bow. The silk flowers are a bit rumpled and have some light staining. With a bit of work I think it could be steamed straight.

I see a few snags to the chiffon here and some wrinkling to the inner lining. The back top edge of the dress has a bit of fray starting. It appears there was a waist sash/belt here which is no longer present and could be easily replaced. Other than that it's in wonderful condition.

The model is a size 2 to 4 and this fits her nicely.
