1950's Notre-Dame de l'Epine Enamel Brooch
Made by Arthus Bertrand, a maker of medals and decorations founded in Paris in 1803 by Claude Arthus-Bertrand. He was an army officer during the French Revolution who obviously had a penchant for ornamentation.
The brooch is made of gilded brass with blue enamel and a centred silver plaque depicting the Virgin holding the Child Jesus
