Product code: Bronze Bas Relief Tropical Scene of Colonial Couple on Mahogany Plaque hotsell 1800s

Unusual gilded bronze bas relief mounted on wood panel with string inlay of a colonial couple, the man holding a banana or palm leaf over their heads.
Wood plaque measures 8 3/4" x 7" hotsell x 1"(including bronze section)
The bronze bas relief measures 6 3/4" x 4 7/8" and is roughly 1/4" deep.
Unsigned, appears to be late 19th century.
Idyllic and charming scene, a couple dressed in 18th century attire walk barefoot through large leaves, and the man holds a long palm or banana frond over their heads. The background is textured with stippled lines.
Colonial works of art from tropical regions are uncommon, sometimes seen in paintings and prints of regions where European countries controlled colonial countries, from the West Indies to India, Indonesia, and other Pacific regions.
In good condition, the bronze shows some verdigris and residue in recessed areas, has not been cleaned or polished. The wood frame shows slight wear, a few scrapes in upper right corner.
Wood backing has wire hanger and attaches to plaque with screws, visible on back.
