Vintage Spring Fancy hotsell Perfume by Prince Matchabelli 4 oz Cologne Splash and Box 1950s Formula
Vintage Spring Fancy Perfume by Prince Matchabelli 4 oz Cologne Splash and Box 1950s Formula
The bottle is about 85% full - please see photo for actual fill level. The perfume is old and no longer as fresh as it once was but it is not turned. I just tested some on my skin and it is wearable. I was surprised as it is actually quite pleasant. It really bloomed on my skin after about 10 minutes. the dry down is incredible - sweet and animalic.
The perfume is very old and no longer fresh. This perfume is about 60-70 years old and will absolutely NOT smell like it originally did all those years ago. Perfume DOES age. Perfumes over 3-10 years start to lose their freshness and may start to smell like alcohol as the perfume degrades. The older hotsell the perfume, the less it may smell like what you may remember. If you are looking to buy fresh smelling perfume, you may not want to buy vintage or antique.
Launched in 1954, it was classified as a green floral fragrance for women. There are no official notes published anywhere so I am taking this chance to sample the perfume and tell you what I detect. It opens with a blast of powdery aldehydes and green notes punctuated with hay, followed by a delicate spring floral heart (beware- there is some indolic jasmine), layered over a mossy amber base with sweetened balsamic facets with a trace of dirty civet.
Top notes: green notes, citrus, hay, aldehydes, neroli, lily of the valley
Middle notes: heliotrope, Bulgarian rose, violet, lavender, jasmine, ylang ylang, honey, orange blossom
Base notes: oakmoss, amber, musk, vetiver, sandalwood, labdanum, vanilla, civet
The box has wear and tear from storage.
This has been discontinued since the 1970s and can be hard to find.
