Double hotsell ripple handle A

hotsell This Copper Smoke jug was thrown on the potter's wheel by Sherri Ciszek, a potter in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The process is a cross between Raku and smoke firing. This vase was brushed with minerals (like Raku), but not glazed. It was coated in organic matter and saggared like a smoke firing. The results are these wondrous warm colors and flashing of smoke. The surface is a product of both art and chance. Therefore, each piece is unique and unable to be replicated.

Copper Smoke pottery is for decorative use only. This vase will not hold water without having a waterproof sealant applied or a plastic container placed inside. I have sealed this one. Like most raku ware, it is not food safe.
