Lovely retro J&G Meakin hotsell Studio Stone ‘Padua’ 21-piece tea set in olive green, 1970s cups, Meakin Padua cups and saucers, retro Meakin teaset
This is such a lovely crockery design in a beautiful olive green colour. I would assume it dates from the 1960s/70s, but it feels like it would easily fit in with today's modern designs and colour schemes. Made by J&G Meakin in the Studio Stone range of glazed stoneware, this design is called Padua and features large olive green leaves and daisy-type flowers in the same colour with an orange centre. The pottery is a lovely cream colour with dark brown flecks.
This is a complete set of 6 cups and saucers, 6 tea plates, a sugar bowl, cream jug and 1 serving plate/salad plate. All the items in this 21 piece set are in immaculate condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.
The serving plate measures 8.75” (22cm) in diameter and is clearly stamped on the base (see pics).
The 6 tea plates measure just over 7” (18cm) in diameter and are also stamped on the back. All the plates feature the lovely green daisy design.
The cups are made of the same glazed stoneware in a solid olive green to complement hotsell the plates and with a white inside. The cups hold 200mls.
The saucers are a plain cream colour with brown flecks, the same as the plates.
The cream jug and sugar bowl are in the same olive green colour as the cups with a white glaze inside.
Condition: excellent/immaculate
The price reflects the condition and quality. This tea set would make a lovely house-warming gift for someone who loves retro. It really is in immaculate condition and the design is so pretty. I love it!.
