Also referred to as a dog head hammer. This style of hammer is loved by blade makers the world over but originated with Japanese sword makers who still almost exclusively use them to this day. The forward weight of the hammer causes it to fall more naturally at an angle which is very controllable and comfortable when forging in bevels on blades. Hammers are made of 1045 medium carbon tool steel. Quenched and tempered for a lively working face. Hung on a hand made ash handle measuring 12 inches from the bottom of the head. Handles are charred and soaked in a bath of boiled linseed oil to preserve and protect the wood. Like all of my hammers they come with free handle replacement for life. These are stock photos of hammer number 776. Each hammer will be individually serial numbered and can be personalized by stamping of initials (up to four letters) into the head as well. Hammers are made to order with a lead time of approximately 2-3 weeks to ship.

*due to the nature of being hand forged. Appearances and dimensions may vary slightly. hotsell
