hotsell A fine Georgian black dot paste brooch, that has been converted from a shoe buckle. The Georgian lady would often have her jewellery repurposed. The paste is in a Sterling silver setting. As the brooch was originally from a shoe, it curves a reminder of its original purpose.

Georgian 1750s. Nearly 300 years old!

Black dots paste is identified by a black dot is seen in the centre of the stone. Each stone, was secured by a dot of tar, to secure it in place. It is an indicator of the jewellery's age.

The brooch has a straight steel pin and closes with a secure C clasp.

Although there is no silver stamp, the brooch is Sterling silver

There is evidence of solder on both ends of the pin. The pastes vary in shade, which relates to the age of the piece.
