Product code: Antique Cane, Walking Stick with Coiled hotsell Snake, Rod of Asclepius, Old Paint, Antique Folk Art
hotsell This is a handsome painted folk art cane depicting a snake wrapped around a rod. This image is known as the Rod of Asclepius, a serpent-entwined rod wielded by the Greek god Asclepius, a deity associated with healing and medicine. It is solid and measures 32" long. It has a burl knot at the top and the rod and snake are carved from a solid piece of wood. It is covered in dark green paint with traces of red. Excuse the glare in the close-ups. There is overall wear to the paint and a chip at the base on one side with a tight crack running up 8 1/2" on one side. It is quite a striking piece and a great gift for someone in the field of medicine.
