Antique Large French Art Deco hotsell Marble Benitier / Holy Water Font, Virgin Mary, Signed by Artist, Glass Font, Ruffony

This is a beautiful onyx or marble (very heavy), glass and silver antique benitier. It has a sold metal silver plated backing held on with brass rivets and has a silver metal hanging hook. On the front, the virgin Mary holds her hands in prayer. Signed on the silver plaque 'Ruffony JB'. On each bottom corner, the silver plated metal is fashioned in true Art Deco style. The pretty glass holy water font is held on by silver floral rivets. A lovely font made in France in the 1920's with a solid silver medallion of Holy Mary signed Ruffony, who was a well known Swiss sculptor and medalist who produced art during the early 20th century.

MEASUREMENTS
It measures 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm) in height by 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) in width and is 1 cm in thickness (excluding hanging hook and screws). Weight is 0.740 kilogram.

CONDITON
It is in a very good antique condition with just one small chips to the marble (top right hand corner). See photos and use the zoom feature for closer inspection. A fabulous devotional gift and an appropriate first communion offering.
